Whilst a career in fitness isn’t the most conventional one, it’s probably one of the most rewarding. Imagine the many opportunities you will have to help people get more out of life by helping them improve their fitness, whether you are leading a personal or group training session, welcoming and supporting people as a front of house staff or getting people started on their fitness journey as a membership consultant.
There are various opportunities to grow with the business; we believe in rewarding hard work and loyalty. Many of our people have moved up through the ranks and experienced different areas of the business. Read some examples here. Also, as one of the world’s leading health and fitness health club brands with a presence in 16 countries across the globe, there’ll also be opportunities to travel. As long as you have a ‘can do’ attitude and aim high, the possibilities are endless.
All Fitness First staff are Fitness Certified, which means they have an knowledge and understanding of different components of fitness, program design, nutrition and have embarked on their own fitness journey. You will also develop your emotional intelligence by gaining an awareness of yourself and your own natural communication style and develop your ability to flex your style to manage your relationships and better connect with others. Once you get to a stage where you are ready to manage a team, you will be given tools and skills to help you get results by truly knowing your people.
Your first day is spent at Fitness first day, where you have an opportunity to connect with others, learn about our company, our history, our purpose, our teams, our commitment to members and our Plan to Win. You then spend time in your club learning about the sales, front of house and fitness departments and experience our key products before joining your 3 day Bronze workshop in your second week.
We encourage our teams to be familiar with our products and offerings. As a Fitness First employee, you'll receive a free gym membership that allows you unlimited access to all our clubs globally, so why not take advantage of that?
We’re an inclusive employer; our employees come from diverse backgrounds and nationalities. When you join Fitness First, you can expect to meet and interact with colleagues from different cultures.
Our commitment to the community is one of the five Winning Ways, which are the Fitness First values. Our teams are all encouraged to ‘Give Something Back’ through various activities, whether it’s through Go Further Friday events, special themed Group Exercise events for fund raising purposes, or working with selected segments of the community to spread the message of fitness. Read more about what we do here.
While there is no set time frame, our organisation best practices recommend that our teams get in touch with applicants within two weeks. However, this also depends on how urgently we need to fill the position.

If it’s a role that requires some previous work experience, we want to hear how those experiences will help you perform in the role we’re hiring for.

Should you require support, please contact our HR Team and we will respond to your request in good time.
While some formal education background in fitness or fitness-related will help, this isn’t a must as we will ensure you have sufficient training before assuming formal duties as a personal trainer. During this time, you will be assigned a mentor. You’ll also be required to attend workshops and trainings, and pass some assessment tests. However, an interest in fitness is a must.
We generally hire for attitude – we like people with a ‘can do’ attitude. You should also demonstrate the attributes that we expect of our people, which we call our Winning Ways. Read more about the Winning Ways here (link to Winning Ways page). However, for roles that require specific technical skills – such as accounting or IT – formal qualifications are preferred.
